I have also been told that I may need to bend my knees more -- maybe go full-on into the "athletic position." Feet shoulder length apart, knees bent, head and palms up.

Yeah, me too. Who knew?

When I say superPEEP in my head it's to the tune of Super Freak. Superfreaky . . .

I gather from your later post you mean universities? We have a private undergraduate school in Belton, University of Mary Hardin Baylor. My wife got her BSN from here and thought it was a good school. The Univeristy of Central Texas is in Killeen about 20 minutes from here.

Texas A&M is about 1 1/2 hours and the University of Texas is about the same with traffic. Baylor University is about 30 minutes north of here on I35.

Take care,
Jeff
Interesting.....I may have to look into the area. When I had looked around (back in 2004) I only came across the listing for Mary Hardin Baylor.

The new mustang is pretty sweet. I dont know how practical it would be for me and the B&C considering we want to have kids in the near future.

So there might be little ectopics running around soon?

Wow. Little EctopicFetuses. There's a strange, sad, and slightly disturbing thought all at the same time.

Yeah, it doesn't sound right does it? Guess it could have been worse.....I could have said "So you're wife is going to be having a little ectopic soon eh?" :meanie:

OK....it's been a slow day on here....let's get going....

Everyone tell me what you think of your current hometown? Would you recommend it?

thanks to everyone who answered about your decision:

I am keeping all of my options open, but like the attitude of people typically in EM but like a friend of mine told me rotations are to help you figure out what you dont want and since I still have some time before I get there will keep eyes open...thanks again

Current hometown - coming to terms with it and liking it more than I did in August. But not going to reveal because I like my anonymity!!!

Past hometown - Chapel Hill, NC. Best place on Earth!! Amazing cost of living, great (affordable) food, lots to do. Great basketball team! Two high-powered academic centers within a 15 minute drive, a third one (the only one with no hospitals/med school - NC State) just 30 minutes away. I loved living there!

Basketball is not a plus as far as I am concerned, and I hear that it doesn't get much bigger than Chapel Hill for the level of dedication to the team. 👎

I'm liking my new hometown...

being close to ocean is cool. Not that I really have the time, but the idea is nice. It's also warm here, which helped it grow on me. A lot. This whole no-snow thing is NIIICCE.

You asked, I answered 🙂. You should probably scratch all of NC off your list if it was on there if bball is a negative, though, because basketball (especially college ball, with THREE ACC teams) is HUGE. NBA ball has been growing in popularity due to the...Bobcats...yes, Bobcats.

But my old hometown (Kansas City) was much close to my alma mater...

and hence my ability to live and die by my beloved Jayhawks. (Yes, it's a rebuilding year. Next year will rock. Assuming they broadcast anything other than ACC here... sigh.)

KC BBQ is the best. They actually served something called "Kansas City BBQ beef on a bun" at the hospital cafeteria today. It wasn't exactly close, per se, but they gave it a decent shot. I tried not to snigger too much.

Where are you at Dchristismi? I am actually looking for places to move to possibly.....

SuperPEEP, SuperPEEP...

Damn, the song is stuck in my head!

Personally I don't think there should be athletics in colleges.....but that's just my opinion.....The only place in NC I'm actually looking into is Asheville.

A place where the housing prices have gone through the roof, the legislature hates physicians, and there are tons of old people. And a certain Mouse.

But it's actually a pretty neat city. Most of the residents live downtown, which is undergoing a big revitalization. That, and I can grow plants here outside that I could only dream of in Kansas. Of course, the match sent me here, and although I was really surprised on match day, I am really loving this area now.

I knew where you lived when you said housing prices and old people. Didn't even need to hear about the Mouse.....

It's also a place that's under a "Rabies Warning" per the health department.

I've given rabies IG and vaccine twice in one week now. And both for known exposures. Apparently, a cat went, well, rabid. And bit like 15 people. They just keep coming in...

The fact that the health department people keep being alarmist is part of it, I'm sure. I mean, it's just rabies. 😆

"Oh, stop bitching....you're just foaming at the mouth. Wait until you start having cerebral edema, then you can come whine to me."

Yeah baby ectopics will be abound.. God willing my wife wont have one.. hmm this is tough to figure out.. Well I hope we have just a regular fetus but I am guessing we are 2 yrs or so from trying to have a baby.. We are in practice mode right now! :meanie: 😍 👍

My hometown is also in the sunshine state! (I did rotate at ORMC dchristismi's place). Miami.... best place to party and be between 16 and 25 y/o. While the Canes are a great football team people are too busy enjoying the city to go to the games. Beautiful people, a lot of fun, people really love life there which is more than i can say for other cities I have lived in including but not limited to NYC, Philly, Cincy and Chicago.

I loved all of those cities for different reasons except cincy.. I know there are some cincy people on here so i wont bad mouth it..

Hopefully ill have a new city to tell you all about next yr.

Praetorian did I see you mention that colleges shouldnt have athletics? Thats one of the most interesting things I have read in a while? I wonder why you think that?

You do know how much $$$ is made by major universities.

For the record College football is way better than college bball.. both beat the pro game in my opinion!... I got some +pad+ in here!

The reason I feel that way is that of all the money and crap that are brought to the school how much of it really benefits the rest of us? I mean at the last school I attended, we did see anything from it. What little money they brought in (our teams all suck) went right back to trying to recruit athletes and provide them with amenities, tutors so they didn't flunk out, nice dorm rooms, a new bus, and paying our worthless sack of s--t coaches. This while people are hard up for ways to pay for school and these pampered little bitches are on full scholarship despite not being able to tie their shoes (not kidding, one of our football linebackers could literally not tie his own shoes) or find Turkmenistan on a map even if you put a gun to their head.

What I find even more laughable is that the NCAA was running ads pointing out "students first, athletes second" trying to counter this opinion- but how many football players or basketball players are history, communications or recreation majors? Why? Because it's easy work and easy to fix.

you missed an opportunity to +pad+... on a similar note..

Here is my take I def think it doesnt help small schools.. but if you look at schools with better athletics they raise a ton of money from their boosters. much of this money is because the boosters go to games and decide to give a ton of money to the University in general.

watch how i increase my posts..

Now you def wont hear me preaching the Student first BS, (I played HS ball with 4 guys in the NFL right now). Most of the D-1 athletes are so unintelligent that they shouldnt have graduated from middle school.. Thing is I think they money does impact the overall U in a positive way. I guess just different opinions.

D1 athlete right here baby.

Supporting Ectopic's theory on athlete unintelligence 🙂!

socute what sport... I did say most and for the record I think the male athletes are dumber than the female ones..

Of course you'll never hear me tell my current boss that I don't think college football is a good idea- he played as a back for Notre Dame and then played for the NO Saints. Of course he is a definite exception to the rule that athletes are dumb, Mike is one of the smartest people I know.

Well ND is one of the hardest schools for an athlete to get into FWIW

Sweet.....I'm impressed. I've only dove off a diving board once. A belly flop from the high board. Never again.
