Do you mean where they remove the nail and then it grows back? I had that done for fungus...(too much info)!?
 
No, I don't have fungus (thank God). I used to have ingrown nails in my big toes. But my 5th toes bilaterally don't actually grow true nails, they grow this weird, skin/keratin mix, that gets torn off a lot. And that kind of hurts. So they can actually remove the nail bed, and then it doesn't grow back.

They actually chemically kill it if I remember correctly. They do that for ingrown toenails on a regular basis in some of the podiatry offices. They just chemically kill that part of the nailbed they don't want to grow. Phenol, then neutralized with peroxide. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Question for all you EM type peeps.

Do you have a hard time studying with your IM-bound classmates? One of my best friends/study buddies is probably going to do Heme/onc and the other will probably do pedi heme/onc. I feel like they can both sit there are practically orgasm over little tiny details that aren't important and that don't interest me. I love them...but they drive me NUTS sometimes.

I can see that being very difficult. I tend to study by myself for that reason. I got a tutor to quiz me so I know they are stressing the important stuff.

ooohhhh yeah. I feel your pain.

also, like have you ever tried to talk to an MD/PhD person...?
like try to ask them a simple straight forward question, that should really have a 5 word clinical response...

oh, it;s like you get a freaking dissertation back!! and all you wanted to know was like "what antibiotic should we start!!"

Nah.. just realize that things are different. also to be fair and honest.. 3rd yr changes people a lot!

Wait until the surgery people come out all excited to go in on the 5th hernia repair of the day... LOL...

Ohh tell us about it! Just let them know you are commited to Todd! Perhaps you guys broke up i have to be honest and say i havent read every post.. 400+ per day is a bit much!

Dude many of the MD/PhDs have a hard time seeing the forest through the trees..
