Hey guys i'm struggling real bad with pattern folding...

I have been trying to eliminate answer choices and picking out the correct weird shapes in order to narrow my choices down but some of the questions are just plain hard where I seemingly have to not only fold the shapes in my head, but also turn it around 180 degrees to look at it from the other side (these question are from BC). I was just wondering if there were any tricks to those types of questions or is it just practice practice practice with the generators (even though that's really hard already and I don't know if I can get better with it)?

Thank you so much for the help!

Honestly, BC's answer explanations go through pretty much every viable strategy out there. For the most part, it comes down to regular practice. It can seem crazy difficult at first but you do improve at it with time and mentally folding/rotating gets easier.

I am debating if I should keep Pattern folding till the end, it takes up all the time for me.

Keep practicing!! I used to suck bad at it and now it's my one of my strongest! I can't tell you a strategy because I don't really know what I do! After practice you can see connectivity easier and it helps tremendously!

Pattern folding has a lot to do with watching the shading. If there are shaded sides to the pattern try to focus on those (ex: shaded, non-shaded, shaded, etc). This strategy helped me a lot, and I got them right almost every time. For ones without shaded sides, it comes down to practice like everyone has said previously.

How much time we are talking about?
I mean do you practice 15 minute everyday,
or more than that for that section?

Practice practice practice!!!! Not just for 20 minutes whenever you can fit it in your schedule, but sit down and do the generator problems for at least an hour.. At first I felt guilty spending significant amounts of time on this section because I felt like I should be devoting it to the sciences or math but I promise it's well worth your time! PAT uses a part of your brain that you are not used to using so the more your practice (the more you use that part of your brain) the easier it will be visualizing/making connections with the shapes!
P.S. I haven't taken the DAT yet but I can get ~ 47/50 pattern folding generator questions correct in a short amount of time... and if I can do it, anyone can do it! Lol
