For those of you who are/will be attending expensive schools: What funding options have you been able to find BESIDES student loans? Has anybody found any scholarships that offer a generous amount? Has anybody been able to find employers who will help pay the cost of tuition or companies offering to pay tuition for a service contract to work for them after graduating? I already have 40K in loans from undergraduate and I am extremely hesitant to take out another 80K for grad school. Anyone else in this boat? Is it worth it?

joing the armed forces isn't really an option for me...thanks though!

Have you tried Fastweb? They have some scholarships that you can apply for. Also, you can find scholarship books at your local library / bookstore that have tons of scholarships that you can try your chance at =). If anything, you can atleast earn enough to pay for your books.

Yes I've been working my butt off applying for every fast web scholarship i can find haha! Anything is better than nothing 🙂

In some of the job ads I've looked at there are some sizable loan reimbursement out there. Not 120K worth, but you won't find that anywhere I assume. Scholarships, work, live cheaply, look for good opportunities when finding a first job, and don't take out more than you need. That's about all you can do aside from military options like previously said.

well I am not accepted anywhere currently. but lets just say i will be in debt for a looong time haha. will be taking out private loans and whatever fafsa awards me.

It's good to know I am not the only one in this boat!

For those of you who will be/currently are relying on loans: how much do u think u will need? Or, what is the maximum you are willing to take out?

I'm planning to limit mine to 60,000 as my absolute max but aim for 50,000 or less.

I plan on taking out about 40K max for the three year duration of my program, hopefully less! 🙂
