I was wondring if anyone here doesnt pay for schools with loans? I was wondering b/c I want to go back to school but I guess having to owe back loans for a longer period of time is not a cool thought. I only owe 5k now which is not much but I am trying to get into professional school and may have to go out of state which will be a whole lot i student loands...whats the take on that?

THE IDEA oF LOANS AND ACCUMULATING MORE DEBT

4 years of professional school will probably cost you $60,000, minimum (and that's in-state, public). going out-of-state could cost 2 or 3 times that much. then add $10,000 a year or more of general expenses, be it a car payment, food, gas, rent, whatever... and you are talking about accumulating $100,000 - $200,000 worth of debt. luckily, medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy positions pay pretty well but you will be in debt for years to come.

i will be starting in-state professional school with hopefully around $25,000 in the bank and hope to finish with $50,000 in debt. To do so, I'll probably need a little help from my parents, and I may need to live at home with them for 1 or 2 years of school.

A very expensive venture indeed.

Yes it is...Ther are only 3 pharmacy schools in GA and 2 of them are private so the tuition is almost 20k yearly, I just dont know what to do the thought of having almost 100k in loans is alot considering I may or may not get a good paying job..

If you go to an out of state college, how do you establish residency there?Isnt it that after a yr you are a resident?

it varies from school to school. i'm pretty sure University of Alabama-Birmingham school of dentistry grants it, but you would probably check with each university, and possibly even with each school.

also keep in mind how difficult it can be to get into state schools if you are an out of stater.

best of luck to you.
