Anyone know of a way to hold a spot without paying a full deposit? The depo at BU is 3,000 bones!!! I don't have a penny in my name. If not, how the heck are people able to afford that?

In my case, I told them in a nice way that I don't have any money, and I pay everything from the help of financial aid. The lady was very nice with me and she said I can pay in payments and she extended my deposit. I paid small amount of it but since it wasn't full, they never cashed it. Now, I got in somewhere else, and I stopped the payment on that check b/c I really need it. However, my deadline was jan 5th and they extended it to jan 30th but I don't know if they will be nice now because of the time and the fact that they want to know who really wants to go to boston to get their class filled. I hope it works out for you.

damn, I thought it was $2000, which I thought was steep, but 3000 bones is a lot of committment....dang...

mine was 350$ private schools rip you off lol

same here $350 at Stony Brook and I think you can get it back before March. The letter said something about nonrefundable after March, so I'm assuming it is before.

I was waiting for LLU, but still no word from them. So, I paid UDM 1500 for my deposit.

Iowa has a $500 deposit

SIU is $80!!!!

Yes that is only EIGHTY. Sorry to make you guys feel bad, hehe....

Harvard has no deposit.....a very nice perk 🙂

$500 for Creighton

$1000 for Minnesota

Harvard is the winner!

Thanks for the advice Mani99, are there others out there who have done the same with large deposits?

UW also has no deposit -- at least, none that is required to hold a spot in the class. Only $100, and we're not even billed until long after the admissions process is completed.
