In college, I paid my tuition in installments. Can you also spread your payments over the course of the year in dental school?

I'm gonna say no. Although, I guess it would depend on your school. If you are taking out loans, it wouldn't make sense to pay installments instead of everything up front. In fact, if you take out loans, most schools will take out all the tuition and fees before you even have a chance to see it so you wouldn't be able to. For us, if you didn't have everything paid in full by the end of the month at the start of a new semester, they put a hold on your account, blocked your classes and if you were in clinic, they would pull you out of that, too (and they didn't care if you had a scholarship that messed up or was late with payments either. If they didn't have their money, you were supposed to figure it out.)

This is absolutely school dependent. Contact your school's Bursar and ask. Many schools do offer interest-free payment plans, but some do not.

this! If you're planning to pay with loans, it makes more sense to pay everything up front.
