Hi everyone,

I was just reading some threads about schools who(m) use PBL as their teaching modalities, and I was just wondering how they would grade you???

It seems very subjective compared to a standard scantron, wouldn't you think?? I was just curious.

Based on what I learned at a USC tour (they are 100% PBL), you'll still have exams to determine grades. PBL is just a different way to present the material. I still have a lot of reservations about how well it will work for me. Interacting w/ others is a great way to learn; but I'm concerned I'll also be wasting a lot of time, hunting for material that an instructor would otherwise just lecture to me.
Are there any present students out there in a full or partial PBL program that can give some insight into this? How much time do you spend gathering and compiling your resources? Do you feel that's time lost that you could have spent studying the material?

What is PBL?😕

Problem based learning. It's spreading like a fungus. You can read more details about it on the medicine threads. We need some input from d-schools PBL'ers though too.
