Finally I sent in my aplication today, applied to 6 programs only, ERAS received my 2 LOR, one more on way...
Do we have to send Dean's letter if the programs don't mention it in their requiremnets ?

I emailed all program coordinators to verify their requirements, even if they were super-specific on the website. Some that didn't mention MSPE/transcript on the website told me they were required, some said that they weren't required but would be nice to have, and some didn't want them. I'd ask your programs to be sure. 👍

I just recieved a message from Albert enistein regarding missing documents, they asked for med school trasncripts.
I didnt know that is a requirement. I will send it now? any idea how long will it take for ERAS to upload it?

Hi, I have been out of the loop for a while. I got an interview last week from TJUHS. A rejection from UCSD (visa issues I guess). My last LoR finally got uploaded. Whew! For some reason, they never got my photograph and I sent it again. Hope it's not a major thing!

I hear Michigan has started sending out invitations.

To that poster who asked whether to submit his/her app with only one LOR in. I think it depends on how good your LOR and the parts of the application you've submitted are - if you think what's already in is strong, it doesn't hurt to have that part in. If you feel like the stragglers are going to strengthen your app significantly, it might be worthwhile to wait a little longer though not much longer.

Does anybody know how to un-sticky the old pulm match thread and make this thread a sticky?

Havent heard from any program yet. My third LOR finally reached ERAS, hopefully they will upload it soon. Called albert einstein , PA, Program coordinator say they have 6 internal candidates this yr for 2 positions !
Is it worth applying ?
ppl who got interviews , can they please also mention if they are US grad
or FMG. It will jsut give an idea who s calling FMG'S (I am FMG by the way).

😡 Does anyone know how to unassign LOR if you have already applied? I have one letter writer who is punking out on me and I have a back up letter. this will suck if I cannot reassign the letters 🙁

Ya, you can do that. Go to my ERAS, click on "programs applied to". Click on the program you want to reassign LORs. then it will show the simlar page as you used when you applied to program , so uncheck the LOR u dont want , and check the LOR you want and ,save it. Hope this makes sense .... I did it , and it worked.

good to hear ppl started getting interviews....i'm an FMG and have only decent scores...couple of researches under the belt (one finished, other on the way)...with these credentials, i'll be lucky if i get 4-5 interviews...

can anybody guess how many interviews u need to bag a position...?

and does the location matter? i mean i'm from NY..do i have chances anywhere else?

Ya, you can do that. Go to my ERAS, click on "programs applied to". Click on the program you want to reassign LORs. then it will show the simlar page as you used when you applied to program , so uncheck the LOR u dont want , and check the LOR you want and ,save it. Hope this makes sense .... I did it , and it worked.

thanks doogle, for your help. I played around with eras last night and found that option and sat there and reassigned them all. What a pain in the ass! 😡

I think you asked the wrong person for LOR, cause if he/she really cares, your letter should've been sent. I recommmend you to look for some body really wants to help you and soon. your scores really amazing, the only issue is your visa, I will say go and call as many parograms as you can and find out which will accept H1 and send your application. To make it esasier, most of the major programs they get grnat from NIH and I think that requied to be permenent resident or citizen. good Luck.

i dont think u shld have any probs...cuz most of the progs send emails (via eras and ur primary email)..but places where u have send paper applications...they prefer snail mail sometimes...so i wld just recommend to let those progs know where u have sent paper applications...good luck

the letter that's not been sent yet happens to be from the PD and its the same with other ppl in program. he promised to send it this week, so i am hoping he did or does! i do hav a 4th letter already in eras but u know how important the PD's one is. lets c..i did correspond to most programs and applied accordingly..

Interview from HF. I applied for 60 programs . there is no rej yet , but in 2 weeks if I don't get enough interview I will send 20-40 more. many progrmas open my application since 12/03 but they send me nothing no rej and no interviews.

Hi Guys,

I just read this article about what FPDs (and IMPDs) consider most important in selecting fellows.... and its so scary!. Not requiring H1B seems to be so high on their list, and training in a University-based program seems to be equally important to them. I now wonder if I made the correct decision two yrs back when I chose a community teaching hospital for H1 over some university programs. And my PD is so slow in sending his LOR...... it really sucks.

I believe you canstill switch to J1 if you want to, I dont know if this will increase the chance of getting a spot but this is something to consider.

well....it tell u the truth...it scared me but i sort of expected it...i'm from a community prog and i dont think my PD is going to call anyone..if they dont rank research at a higher place...i'm out for sure

Me too. I spent several minutes trying to figure out if I'd been invited, rejected, or what. Finally figured out they were just acknowledging the application. I hope. Kind of odd to get it on New Year's Eve. Who was working on sending out acknowledgements on New Year's Eve?

its already jan 4th and i am with 2 rej and no invites which is not unsurprising for me as my damn PD's letter hasnt reached eras yet. talked to him today and said he sent it last week. isnt the problem with only me as there are more than 10 residents applying to other subspecialties too in the same boat. i wish i never came to this program. when he has time for taking fotos on every occasion, he finds no time for writing LORs to his residents! other PDs are probably bg sending out calls for their residents.

internal 2 spots probably already decided for 3 amgs in the program.. being FMG sucks.. hate everybody....

Good luck for all PCCM applicants
I am FMG (H1B visa), PGY2 in a community program with 85/82/83 scores. Trained in surgery in UK for 4 yrs ( MRCS). I did 2 months of research with PCCM program director in a small university and presented poster and published an abstract. I have also presented 2 posters at local ACP Chapter( didnt win any prizes)and submitted 2 case reports still under review.

I have decent LORs from PD and pulmonary attendings. I have applied for J1/H1 programs, still i got rejection letters from 4 programs quoting they dont sponsor H visa. I am scared now.

Just want to share my frustration with visa issue.

Those who got interviews Please post Scores/ visa / University or community/ research/ publications thats give an idea what PDs are looking for.

I am a US grad with good scores from a good residency program. I haven't heard from any but one of the programs I applied to. One of the programs hasn't even downloaded anything yet. I wouldn't worry yet about not hearing anything, and I assume people won't start really looking at apps until next week because of the holidays.

Ditto. All I've got is my (totally expected) rejection from Colorado. We just have to wait to see what the next few weeks bring. 😎
