I know interviews started September 1st. I was wondering if anyone who already did their's this cycle would comment with some feedback.😀😎
I also received a 290 on my OAT and have have my application completed but just need to press submit. I was wondering if I should retake it before I submit it? Were you offered interviews with a 290?
I interviewed Wednesday the 7th. I had the director of admissions. The interview was pretty simple. He asked basically the same questions as Viggen said, and overall the interview only lasted 15-20 minutes. I also got my acceptance today, Congrats Viggen!
By the way, since you only got a 290 on the OAT and you said your retaking it but got accepted, are you going to still retake it? Because I got the same score and also told them I was planning on retaking it but because I'm accepted is there any point?
Yes, apparently got a letter for provisional acceptance indicating that I need to take statistics (which i had already taken 4 years ago). Will clear that up with the school in the morning.
My GPA was 3.47 overall and i believe a 3.1/3.2 science (can't seem to remember). Retaking OAT's still since i want to get interviews for other schools that are waiting on it.
General question (sorry if this is in the wrong thread) but if you planned on retaking the OAT and told the admissions committee that during your interview, but then get accepted to your first choice, do you still need to retake it?
yea i was expecting a provisional acceptance, but i guess they liked me enough to accept me without a retake. I am only retaking it so i can get interviews from other schools.
viggen16: I pretty much had the same questions as you but I did not have the dean as my interviewer, I had a different man (who wasn't an OD in fact)...I had a not so good oat (310ts 300 aa) and they did not even mentoin it in the exit file. do you think I have a chance?
i think you have a fairly good chance. It all depends on how you interview went. I think i caught my interviewer (the dean) by surprise (a good one that is) when she asked me "what issues do you think will face optometry in the future" and i really went into the nitty gritty of the state legislatures, laws, and the scope of practice. I think that's what really got me my acceptance.
well my interviewer asked me about how many ods there were in america, and I saw, Oh I read this online, its 35,000 right? and he said, wow i'm surprised you know that, i asked many first and second years and they dont even know!
and then when i was saying something, he repeated what I said, and went, "oh i like how you put that, very nice"
lol. and he knew the guy i interned with.
I had mine yesterday. I was nervous but excited. My official interview lasted about an hour and I think it went well. My tour guide was very quiet and had just taken an exam that morning and seemed to have test hangover. She was still very nice but you could tell she was exhausted 🙁 My exit file seemed to be very positive, the guy I had was awesome. Hoping to hear back soon 😀
I'm trying to figure out my flight time back. I'd rather take the 2pm flight over the 3pm cause it has less stops. What did you do for 5 hours at the interview? Do you think you could leave early, and if so, what time do you think you could leave the interview?
I highly doubt you would even make the 3pm flight. PHL is at least a 20 minute drive from the campus On a good day. You will have your meeting with the dean, formal interview, exit interview, tour of campus and the clinic and lunch. It does take almost the full 5 hours, I got out at 230. You could leave instead of taking the campus tour, but it seems a bit rude unless you have been there before.
Well 3pm was the last flight out that day...is the first interview and the second right after each other, with the campus tour at the end? Cause then yes, I would ask to leave the campus tour early...if the exit interview is at the end, then I would be screwed haha.
My exit interview was last but I think that's not the norm since my official interview lasted an hour. (everyone else was done before me so I don't know how long their norm is). Maybe just tell them when you get there that you have a flight out at 3 so there are no surprises and you dont look like you are bored and trying to bolt.
I'll probably call admissions...but did anyone else have an earlier exit interview/ get out a lot earlier from their interview? I'd like to leave around 1:30ish
i had my interview yesterday, we were done by 2:15. I think that you should plan to stay for the entire day, otherwise it looks like you are not serious about considering their school. US Airways has good flight times and prices.
