For those of you who received PCOM interview invites, how long did you wait to receive the interview invite after being complete?

I waited about 3-4 weeks. I was complete the end of august/early sept. and I got an interview invite on 9/25.

Same here - I got my secondary in and about a month later i got my interview invite

maybe its the fact that I am a west coast applicant..or perhaps my rather weak OA GPA due to some bad grades almost 10 years ago in City College...but I have been waiting over 2 months since being complete at PCOM and no word from them at all.

I called earlier this week and was pretty abruptly told that applications are reviewed and applicants interiewed through March and sometimes April of next year. The admissions lady confirmed that I am complete and still being reviewed.

they're just backed up. every school's backed up at this point. It's a waiting game now.

Do you think it would help if I sent them some laxatives?

Seriously, though ... I understand that the interview process continues until March or April. But I think the frustration is brought on by the fact that some of us were complete around the same time as others who have already been interviewed and accepted. And we see nothing but tumbleweed blowing through our inboxes. I think I read on another thread that they're already scheduling interviews for January. Trying to be optimistic but it's getting harder.

When I went through the process a couple years ago I never even received a rejection letter from half the schools I didn't get into and the ones that bothered to let me know I wasn't getting an interview weren't until very late in the season (except for one who let me know early on).

I'm not saying that you're not gonna get in....but its just the way it is....

that's exactly it right there. all you can do is wait. noone knows why one person's interviewed and accepted when another person (of equal stats and similiar application timetables) isn't.

Unlike some schools PCOM does not necessarily intervie won a "first come first served" basis.

Early in the interview season (before Thanksgiving anyway) the most competitive applicants are interviewed and are generally accepted before Christmas.

This gives the school a chance to see how many students have replied with acceptance fees.

As the interview season goes on the percentage of people accepted from each interview group declines, as you would expect.

BUT the good news is that there is still relatively high acceptance (% wise) from the interview groups into December.

Congrats on the interview. When did they schedule you for? Just wondering how far out in time interviews are being scheduled for at this point.

They scheduled me for 12/14, a day before my deposit of $250 is due at AZCOM. Decisions, decisions...

I was complete about a month, but really wanted to interview at PCOM-Philly. I handed in a letter of interest on Friday and today got an interview request. I am not sure if it is coinidence or not!

My interview is scheduled for 12/11.

LOL. That may pose a dilemna if you end up liking PCOM. On the other hand, it's a dilemna I wouldn't mind having. 🙂

who do you hand the letter of interest to? I wouldn't mind doing something like that for a coincidence that lies on my favor 😳

Lucky for me, I just moved to Philly. I was able to go hang out for an afternoon, meet some folks, observe a first year OMM class being taught, etc.

I then wrote a short one page letter telling the committee what I saw at PCOM during my visit that I liked and how I feel like it would be a good fit for me.
A few days after the experience, letter in hand, I just dropped it off to the admissions office in person, and asked if the letter could be added to my file for consideration. 🙂
whala.
next business day ....invite. :luck: or not? I don't know, the point is, I was interested enough in the school to go there, make some observations and formally express them for an interview shot.
I really did it to "encourage" an interview sooner rather than later or not at all.

Great idea, Marciah! I'm sure your initiative had a lot to do with the interview invite. I may do that myself. Did you know anyone at PCOM or did you just kind of wander in unannounced and take it from there?

yea thats a really great idea!! i guess they do want to see how much interest you're willing to show in their respective schools. Thanks for the tip Marciah.

Nope, I found someone through SDN who is a currently attending PCOM and PM'd for some advice on the letter. He graciously offered to take me under his wing and show me around, invited me to class, etc. I was very fortunate and apprecitive and to be honest, he is exactly the kind of person I would want to be classmates with.It was a great litmas test for PCOM that they had chosen someone like him as well.

YOU did all the hard work, remember that.

I can introduce you to all the higher ups and push the whole "hey, we really need to interview this girl" line, but in the end it is YOU that will get accepted to PCOM.

Glad you had a good time on campus. Good luck. See you in December.

👍 👍 👍

Hey, JP, how many out-of-staters/out-of-region students does PCOM take, I am from Michigan is that going to hurt me to get an interview invite, I just sent a letter of interest on monday and it should arrive at PCOM tomorrow, will this help me get an interview invite? My stats are just around the average for PCOM acceptees.

No worries marciah. I helped you out because of the sincerity in your PM to me. 👍

Send the GA deposit only if it is a place that you would definately consider going. It wont hurt your chances at PCOM.

See you on your interview day!

PCOM is 35% out-of-staters...we interview people from Michigan...be patient!
