Hi,
What is the difference between the waiting list and the alternate list?
Wait-list is waiting to know where you stand, rejected or accepted, or alternate list. The alternate list is once the class is full, you are counted as one who will be in a pool of applicants that will be chosen from should someone fail to matriculate. The alternate list is better than a rejection. There is still hope.

I went to the school for the interview on June 2nd. Since then, I am just waiting for the reply... If he got the letter for the alternate list, which means that the class is now full, so there is no point for me to wait for the reply from the school
🙁. It means that I will either get denied or on the alternate list?

Not necessarily. You never know. You should know something in the next few days. Don't give up hope though, you never know!:xf:

I interviewed on 5/13, and have yet to receive word from them 🙁 I have tried calling and emailing them, but still nothing on my status. Has anyone, who had a later interview date than mine, received anything from them? like a rejection letter or was notified that they were put on the alternative's list?

For those who had their interview date on June 2nd, have you gotten anything back from the school yet? Should I call the school or keep waiting?😕

I interviewed June 3rd. There were nine of us there that day. I have not heard anything as well. How many interviewed on the 2nd?

Hi,
There were 8 of us on June 2nd. I emailed Ms. Aisha today on the reference of the decision. :xf:

any news on the accreditation meeting for the school? I really hope they get pre-candidate status.

I think the meeting is the 22nd and/or 23 rd. I hope they get it too! I'm sure they will 🙂

Hey you guys,
I just went to labcorp yesterday and did my drug test. I went home and looked at the background check paper and I'm a little confused, do we need to do both of them? On one side it said "drug screen only" and the other side it was the background check. I did the drug screen only one and paid the $46 then I started the background check and it was identical, so I stopped. Help?

When I did it you pay for the background check and the drug test is free. Try to check the status of your background check. Pretty sure all of the options do the background check.

Ok cause there were 2 options on the mystudentcheck.com
"drug screen only" and "background check only" and they were both different prices, one was $46 and the other I think was $49
Do we do both? Or just one?

I just want to remind everyone to take care of there federal financial aid (direct: sub, unsub and PLUS) in a timely manner. You should have to sign the MPN, complete the online quiz which is the entrance interview. fill out and fax the federal aid authorization form to GA. and sign and fax the student supplemental statement to GA.

the drug screen is supposed to be done by labcorp, and the background check is done by that website.

Select the Background check only option. That is what my instruction sheet said to do. I went to Labcorp today and they gave me PCOM's copy as well as my own. I told them they were supposed to send it to PCOM and they said they don't do that anymore. They said they will send PCOM the results and told me I would need to mail in the carbon copy. Anyone else ran into that? Do I need to mail PCOM's copy or are the results all they need?

I wonder when we find out how much we are being offered. I am a planner and not knowing if I will have the money is killing me???

My form said to "select your school worded as Philadelphia Coll of Osteopathic Med GA Campus School of Pharmacy Drug Screen Only"

And the 'drug screen only' was highlighted, man now I'm confused! LoL! It's a 2 sided sheet and on the back it talks about the background check which costs a few dollars more also so I thought I had to do both, so I was starting the background check one and it had all the exact same questions to fill out so I stopped. Hmmmm now I'm worried if I even did it right.

And yes I went to Labcorp yesterday and they gave me back the 2 copies as well. I asked and they said one is my copy and the other is for legal documentation and that they give the results to PCOM, so I hope it's ok...

Are they giving us info on financial aid? Or do I just apply through FAFSA?

I'm thinking that I don't get my student binder until they receive my drug test/background check ect?

That is weird...mine said background check only. I would be concerned too. We don't have to pay for the drug screen. Maybe you could try to contact Precheck customer service.

I received a big packet of Financial Aid information today in the mail. It's very thorough too.
I also received my student binder already, and I haven't turned in any of my medical questionnaire/ background check/ drug screen.

I received an email from Limiat so I asked about the precheck and I got this reply...

"Sharon,

Background check and drug screening are the only ones which are to be completed on mystudentcheck.com, and the information will be transferred to us via online, once we receive the information I will email to inform you that they have been received."

So ya, I'm confused because it still seems like I need to pay for and do both. But everyone seems to have only done 1 of them.

Receiving your binder has nothing to do with what you have completed. I got mine before I had all my stuff completed. Financial aid info is all on nucleus. If you don't have your binder you probably don't have access, but I would definitely fill out the FASFA. That is a must. All the info they send in the financial aid packet is available on nucleus once you get access.

I wonder if maybe she thought you were going into the DO program...? Just a thought.

Good to know! Thanks! 🙂 I'm sure mine will come soon then...

Some of my titers came back negative so I have to get a series of vaccinations, I want to email asking because some take 6 months to complete... but i'm hoping all my other medical stuff goes through ok.

Mine did too. I am taking a series of shots. My next one is due in November. Marsha in health records told me to just fax her the update when I get the next dose, so that shouldn't be a problem for you. I have all my financial aid stuff completed and just waiting to see how much money is going to be available. Rumor has it we will be invited to a meet and greet in July. I am excited. Good luck with everything

Ok so I can fill out the FAFSA now without any further info from PCOM? Good to know! 🙂
And No I don't have access to nucleus yet. I'm like you, not know all this stuff is driving me crazy!

And my studentcheck form does say pharmacy, so I just don't know, I guess I'll wait to hear back from Limiat.

Does anyone have an idea of how many students already got accepted to PCOM?
I was interviewed on June 2nd. Ms. Aisha told me to expect a letter from the school by the end of this month.

i still havent received my binder lol. aisha said they were sending it like 2 weeks ago when i told her. now the financial aid lady was like ill notify them! i updated my address and everything but maybe its being sent to my old address. how much did you guys put down for money? should i still do their fin aid application if im not 100% im going? also did everyone put down their parents info on fafsa? i did mine back in jan/feb after my lecom interview and they were like just put down your info, not your parents..now pcom says they need parents. im hoping they can just take a copy of their tax forms cause i dont feel like updating fafsa anymore! lol. hopefully they plan the meet and greet early in july because i want to make a decision by then and would really like to see the pharmacy facilities and meet everyone possible. so if anyone gets info on it please share right away!

If you are independent, then you don't need your parents' tax files, only use yours. If you want to know if you're an independent or not, contact your fin. aid office at your current school, because the same concept applies to all schools in the US.

i know what she is talking about when she's asking if we should put our parent's info. Because pcom says to put your parents info if you want to try to qualify for their institutional grants (which need based).

For me, i'm unsure if I'd qualify for this. Would it be worth it to put my parents info, since it ISS need based? Or counter productive by qualifying me with less of the subsidized loan?

Hey everyone. Just to clear things up, you need to pay for BOTH the drug test and the background check. I ran into this problem last month and after contacting PreCheck and PCOM I was informed that both need to be paid for. I believe that PreCheck interprets the lab results sent to them from LabCorp and sends the information as a pass/fail to PCOM. Also, please begin to fill out your financial aid paperwork ASAP. Here is a checklist of things you have to do: 1. FAFSA (Make sure PCOM is one of your school choices) 2. PCOM's Financial Aid Application (You can do this paper-less through Nucleus) 3. Title IV federal authorization form (from financial aid packet) 4. Application for Stafford + Grad PLUS 5. Entrance Counseling for Both Loans 6. Signed MPN 7. Send PCOM your proof of Citizenship (They want the real thing, not a copy) 8. Send a signed copy of your parent's tax return ( I believe this one is optional unless you would like to qualify for PCOM grant money) Luckily, I live near the school and have had guidance throughout the whole process. I am just waiting on my results at the moment. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Or you can contact Ms. Laurel Starling at 678-225-7533 or [email protected]. She's awesome. I hope this helped. Good Luck and I can't wait till August!

1. Yes, you should still do their financial aid application. Even though you are not sure whether you are attending the school or not, they can begin on your paperwork. Filling out the application does not mean you are locked into attending the school. Filling out the required MPN means you have basically signed onto that school and they will receive your loans. 2. As a graduate student, the FAFSA will automatically assume that you are independent. The FAFSA is a generic application and does not take into account PCOM's standards for giving grants. You need to go back, and add your parents information in case you qualify for PCOM's need-based grant. But if you do not want to, there is no consequence other than not getting any grant money if you qualified. 3. You NEED to edit the FAFSA, and send a copy of your parent's tax returns to PCOM (again this is only if you want to qualify for need-based grants). Just take the time out to do it, it doesn't take that long. Hope this helped.

Well, what was your EFC on the FAFSA? If it is considerably low, then it may be to your advantage to go back and add your parent's information.

I was just told that my application is being reviewed again--is that a good or bad sign 😕

When was your interview? and how long did it take for you to receive the reply back from the school?

I interviewed on May 13, was told a decision would be made on June 1st and that a letter would be sent out by the end of the week, but when 2 weeks (from June 1st) went by, I started emailing and calling them till I got a hold of them and was then told that my application is still being reviewed and a decision has not been made. 🙁

ACPE meeting is June 23-27. Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

Wow, it takes them that long? I hope that my application won't end up like yours! It has only been 2 weeks and I am dying of waiting here 🙁 Geez, over a month already and you haven't heard anything on your application? Well, a good side of that is you know that you still have chance to get accepted, since they only say that it is still being reviewed.:xf:
Hopefully I will get the decision next week!:xf:
I'll let you know when I do.

Way to support another degree mill in GA guys! :scared:

Philly school of Osteopathic medicine....a pharmacy school....in GA...20 mins away from one of the best schools in the nation and an hour away from Athens.

We need to stop these schools from opening to protect the future of pharmacy
I think Jayscin said it best by saying "Discouraging your (future)colleagues is unprofessional and immature." I hope you will mature and develop as you continue in your studies. Maybe then you will represent the school 20 minutes away in a more positive light. Good luck to you Carbox.

Hey who told you this? i called them and they said I don't need it. they're not aware of requiring this.

I'm not sure who you spoke to, but the financial aid office needs your proof of citizenship for loan purposes. Also, if you check on Nucleus, this is one of the pre-requisites for your financial aid file. I was told to bring in the original certificate because they did not take copies.

i don't see how this is reasonable to do, to send in my ORIGINAL birth certificate? i don't live in georgia right now. hmm

You can get a certified copy (which serves as an original) from all 50 states. Search online...I think you just have to send a certified check. I had to do it a few years ago. If you're an international student I'm not sure how to get one.

Let me know if you can't find it through google. I can see if I still have my paperwork with my birth cert.

Yes I see where you are coming from. I live 50 minutes away from PCOM, so i did all my financial aid paperwork at PCOM in the office. I was told that I had to bring it in so they can make a copy when i was able to email my parent's tax return. I would contact the financial aid office again for confirmation. But i was told that there were people who sent it in via certified mail.

favorably for the future of pharmacy would lead to all new schools not getting accredited. go to established schools people

I only applied to 2 schools in GA. I ended up on the alternates list at Mercer, and was accepted to an establish school in TN and AL. The important thing to me was being close to my family so I chose to become part of an inaugural class at a very promising school. Has it ever occurred to you that the students on this board may have their own motivations for attending PCOM?

If you don't have anything positive to contribute then your opinion is not needed.
