Im sorry dude but you are pathetic...it is painfully obvious that your own personal/professional insecurities lead you to rant about new schools. I too chose to attend PCOM and declined opportunities at other established schools. You know nothing of the caliber of students who will make up this inaugural class, so stop assuming! When you ASSume you make an...well you know the rest 🙂.

You obviously have some intelligence (or else you wouldnt currently be in pharmacy school), my suggestion to you is wise up and attempt to be the best possible candidate upon entering the industry for whichever area of pharmacy you choose to practice in.

I tried that. I sent a multiple point question. I received back a response to the one point, but the accreditation question was not answered. Of course, what was Friday, before the meeting adjourned.😕
 
I spoke with Dr. Deimling last week. He said they will announce it on the website when they get a written letter from the ACPE. He told me to check back 2 weeks after the meeting. I hope we can hear something in about a week or so. But I'm not expecting anything within the next couple of days.

Based on the time of creation and the writing, I'm pretty sure I know who his first account is, but I won't reveal since he's honestly a nice person. :laugh:Though I gotta say that calling any (future to be) accredited school a "degree mill" is a bit harsh and a misuse of the phrase, but I think it's normal to be a little worried about a future influx of pharmacists.

So, who is going to the luncheon next week? I'm so mad that its not just a day later! I have to pick my mom up from the airport in orlando at 5 so theres no way i can go. Maybe that's when they'll announce that they have pre-candidate status 🙂 lol. Whoever is going should let us know everything they say! And which housing is good. :luck:

Check the facebook page. It has the details. I received an email today also. It is July 7, PCOM campus @ 12 noon.
 
Ahh, this is driving me crazy! Haha. If the school doesn't get accredited (doubtful), I'll have to take 2 classes for my second choice school.

I actually just called pharmcas about it, so let's see what they say!

Also, is anyone else wondering why PCOM's having a luncheon? If they don't have some good news to announce at it, it's a little pointless. 😛

The timing for the luncheon is just right. Also, the accreditation status has been confirmed by a ACPE representative via phone call. 😀
 
Yup, I called the office earlier today! I got put on a hold a couple times, but they finally fessed up. 😀

And ACPE just called me back. They usually have to wait 30 days to disclose the information, but since Pharmcas released it already, it's been confirmed!

I was told that we should be getting our award letters in July. Maybe we will hear something at the luncheon tomorrow.

We are pleased to announce to the PCOM Community the news that the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) has granted Precandidate Accreditation status to the new PCOM School of Pharmacy, Georgia Campus. This accreditation allows the School of Pharmacy to open in August, matriculating our first class of 75 students into the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree program. After the first class enrolls, we can pursue candidacy status and then full accreditation after graduation of the first pharmacy class in 2014.
The entering pharmacy class has already been filled with very qualified applicants, the administration and initial faculty are in place, the School of Pharmacy facility has been completed, and we are prepared for an exciting opening on August 11, 2010.
The opening of the School of Pharmacy was a major objective in PCOM's Strategic Plan and is a major step in our continued growth as a strong institution offering a wide array of high-quality graduate and professional degree programs. Congratulations and thanks to the School of Pharmacy leadership team: Drs. Michael Deimling, Timothy Poole, Nancy Shapiro, Avadesh Sharma, and Julie Bierster. We would also like to express our deepest thanks to the many members of the PCOM Community who were critical in the success of this endeavor, and our gratitude for the support of President Schure and the PCOM Board of Trustees. Our new pharmacy faculty are enthusiastic about being part of PCOM and this new endeavor, and we are all committed to new approaches in pharmacy education that will build on our 111-year-old tradition of excellence in health care professional education.

I haven't been able to access my student email, I haven't received my student binder yet 😕 I've been emailing a few people to try and get my nucleus log in, but nothing yet... ahhhhh

But I'm SO excited! YAY PCOM 🙂

Hey Promove is a great service you should try them. I'm using them after hearing about them from this thread from another person. I'm going up there this weekend to look again for an apartment. Good luck with your search!!! See you in August 👍!!!

Heyy this is shon from your interview group... for your nucleus you should call them up, cuz for mine same thing happened I called the philadelphia address over there they have IT staff they should fix your Nucleus account.call this number 2158716110 and their email is [email protected]

I was wondering did anyone else have the problem of their SSN # not being on file? I submitted my fin aid application and it said my ssn wasn't on file. Why wouldn't it be in considering I'm sure I gave it to pharmcas. This is so frustrating. And of course people are out of the office or not answering when I call, nice.

I did have that problem! I just filled mine out this morning and it told me my ss# wasn't on file, but it really didn't seem clear on how to fix it 😕 Let me know if you get a hold of them. Are you just doing direct loans or do you think we'll need plus loans as well?

Well considering we can only get 20,500 (from what i understand) from direct I def need to get a plus loan. I wonder how much we get all together including living expenses. Hopefully find out soon. I'll let you know what I find out! 😀

Also, do you have any idea where you'll be living there?

Oh wow, ya I guess I would need more, I'm so worried though because I have a house here and if I walk away from it, it's just bad, and plus loans look at your credit. The market is just so bad here that I can't sell it or rent for anywhere near what I'd need.

And with that said no I have no idea where to live yet. I was hoping to go out there before August to look but plane tickets are too expensive right now. But my boyfriend is moving as well and we have 3 dogs, so I figured roommates wouldn't be an option 🙁

It's all kind of scary right now lol but I know I'll make it work 🙂
 
sooo..i filled out my financial aid app like 2 months ago and still haven't heard anything back yet.
i just got emailed the bill for tuition, which is due on july 19. I'm confused. they expect us to pay it now and get the financial aid later? it's getting frustrating and will be difficult to pay this without knowing the status of my financial aid. Is everyone else in the same predicament?

I did just get this email, yikes. I think I'll email them... because I don't think I have any financial aid yet either! And the bill doesn't seem to be for the entire amount, are they just charging for the fall session?

I got the email also.. There's no way I can pay $9000+ by july 19th!

I finally got my binder! I had to drive all the way to suwanee to get it, but still yay! The school looks great too. Me and my mom went and peeked our heads in to the classroom and labs. Im getting excited just being here, less than a month!!

As for the bill, I'm sure the school knows most of us will be using our financial aid to pay. I tried to see laurel yesterday but she was really busy. I'm wondering if I should go in again today to sign a direct deposit form? Unless theres a link on nucleus, anyone know? Also, does anyone know what the title iv federal authorization forms are? Maybe those are the direct deposit? Anyway, thanks for any help! See everyone August 11th !!!!
 
Hi everyone, I am trying to rent out rooms in my house to GAPCOM students and still have 2 rooms with unsigned contracts. I am willing to cut the prices some since it is so late in the game. from my understanding, the title IV is to give them permission to charge you for fees, fines (ie. parking tickets), etc using your financial aid money. if you don't give them authorization, you are responsible to pay for it yourself.
 
My interview was few days baq... so how long after the interview do i hear frm pcom? and is it via mail or email???? im so scared! the program starts aug 8th rite? and i jus got interviewed few days back

I got my acceptance after 2-3weeks..
And it was via mail. ( big package).
School starts august 16th.
Orientation is from august 11th-13th.

Sorry to be a debbie downer...
but is anyone else frustrated with PCOM's financial aid office?!?!
I sent in all the required paperwork a month ago
& It still says "Not received" on Nucleus.
& I called them over 10 times.. And no one has called me back.. 🙁
they're so unreliable!

I am on the alternate list for PCOM and I haven't heard anything back from them and its hard to see if the list is moving because we aren't really allowed to email them regarding the alternate list, so has anyone on the alternate list gotten accepted or know anything about it?

So, who's received their financial aid award letter? And for the person asking about fin aid.. Who are you calling/emailing? I always email laurel ([email protected]) since she's the ga campus fin aid lady. I'm frusturated that my moms tax form hasn't been reviewed and my mpn (which I did awhile back) still isn't in. But laurel said she's going to search the system for me once she gets proof of my ssn card (I had to applyfor a new one as my mom lost mine).

Fo the waitlist I'm not sure how long it is or anything but I know someone just declined today cause she got accepted elsewhere. Good luck!

I'm frustrated with financial aid too... I'm not sure what else to do right now, I think I will email Laurel then like you said... I signed my MPN on the 12th but it still says they don't have it. I didn't include my parents info because I know it wont help me but it still says I'm missing that info. also Title IV Federal Authorization Form - for Non Inst Charges and Title IV Federal Authorization Form - to Pay Prior Charges
I mailed them one form, but is there 2? Ahhh! LoL

I did receive my student binder though finally 😀 YAY!
