Potentially deciding between PCOM-PA and CUSOM. Accepted to CUSOM and on waitlist for PCOM. Is PCOM worth waiting for and changing plans last minute if I get accepted? I think that both schools are very good. I do not have a preference for location, however I know that cost of living in NC is way cheaper than in Philly. Also, CUSOM offers student health insurance (which I will need) and PCOM does not. I know that CUSOM is a newer school but it already has an excellent reputation, does age of school matter that much? Looking to go into Psychiatry. Please advise!

CUSOM's board scores and 2019 match list are awesome. However the location is in the middle of nowhere. PCOM is in a real city, plus it's one of the best brand names. Not sure about PCOM, but CUSOM has an attendance policy and dress code.

You can't go wrong with either choice.

Thanks for responding and for the feedback! Yes I can see myself at either school, I liked both of them at the interviews. Mandatory classes wouldn't bother me as I would be a class goer anyway. I just don't know if it's better to go with the PCOM name, or if it will even make much of a difference. It is going to be a tough decision if I get off of the waitlist for PCOM.

Have you seen the most recent match list for CUSOM? I'd say pretty impressive and people would go to that school for those results alone. But yeah PCOM Philadelphia is also one of the biggest brand names. So even if you get accepted to both, consider CUSOM's match results and board scores. Personally if I had gotten accepted to both, I would go to Phili just cause I love big cities.

While both are good schools with strong match lists, I believe PCOM-PA, as a much more established school, will keep more doors opened for you. Both school have their own residency programs/consortium, but again PCOM-PA residencies are also much more established, much more diverse in term of specialties and much more competitive and opened to their students. That's why I think PCOM-PA is gonna be the better option.

Lol, CU SOM is in Aurora, and pretty close to Denver; those two are one of the most awesome cities in the US. I wouldn't call it the middle of nowhere, and it's like 20 ish minutes from downtown/ their undergrad campus.

CUSOM is Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine not the University of Colorado

OP this is what I am talking about. Just check the list of residency programs these two schools have sponsored so far. I mean don't get me wrong they are both doing a good job for their students, but as I said, PCOM residency programs are much more diverse and more competitive.

PCOM is worth the wait. Accept the CUSOM accept, ie pay the deposit, and then if you get off the WL at PCOM go to PCOM.
