PCOM vs PCOM -GA difference other than location?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There is slight difference in curriculum for example, PCOM-GA does neuro in first year, while PCOM does neuro in second year.

PCOM-GA carries PCOM name with it so that's a huge advantage. Other than that, not much difference between the two campuses.

I will say one thing though. Compared to other new schools, PCOM-GA has a significant advantage with having PCOM name with it. If you're a PCOM-GA student, you can definitely come up to Philly/PA and do your rotations there and build connections. Yes, PCOM-GA is technically a new school, yet it is using a curriculum model that has been proven from time to time with a vast alumni network so it can be almost considered an established school.

You can't go wrong with attending PCOM-GA though if you're from that area and prefer the more rural setting that PCOM-GA offers than the Philly rural area.

Rollo is correct. I prefer PCOM GA because it rarely snows in the Winter.

The mission is identical in that PCOM's mission is to produce primary care physicians. PCOM Ga's primary mission is to produce the same for underserved areas of the South. Very few of my classmates are from outside of the deep South. Most of us are from GA, FL, AL, TN, SC and NC. There are exceptions.

We may not be in downtown ATL but this area is far from rural...some of the clerkship sites around the state are in more rural locations but the school itself is in a nice, busy suburb just outside of ATL

Is it possible to stay in the same location for 3rd/4th years?

Yeah, you might have to commute a bit for soem rotations but a lot of people stay in this area.

That's cool, as I understand it Atlanta is a commuting city so pretty much everyone drives back and forth. I was just wondering if its possible to stay in the same house/condo/apartment for the whole four years.
