Pcom's mcat for 2012 was a 28

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Why is that surprising? Statistics will probably rise every year.

the established school's numbers might be going up, but the presence of the new schools/appalachian schools/southern schools will allow people with low 3.0's and mid 20's MCAT to still get in.

To my understanding pcom truely looked at the overall application in the past, but recently the school has had some problems with low board scores, so the administration started to take kids based more on stats than in the past.

That's what I heard. It could be completely wrong.

Possibly. It was just surprising to have had a 3.4/26 for like 5 years and suddenly be a 28.

They definitely look at the whole application. Have a 28 MCAT and still nothing. Wonder why they hate me so 😛

Weird, I have a 30R and a 3.54 and have heard nothing from them. I applied late Sept/Early October too.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's like this in a few years for most DO schools (at least the ones that have been established for a couple decades).

Well, it's not that late- just SDN late. I got interviews from MD schools I added in late November. Anyways, do they do silent rejections? Because I'd rather they tell me no than keep me hanging on.

That's late.

Yeah they do. I contacted them and they said they only update you if you are invited for an interview, and interviews run until the end of March. I'd imagine if we don't hear anything within a week or two its safe to say its a silent rejection.

That is why the process sucks if you don't get an invite. If I were you I would be on the phone.

I thought that it already was a 28. 🙂

I emailed them asking them if I was rejected. Let's see if they give me a straight answer and not beat around the bush.

Too many apps go to PCOM. They can be as selective as they please and silent reject whoever they want.

PCOM replied saying that their interviews run til March 28th and that all applicants will receive letters at the end of the process.
