I've heard that it can be helpful to have a PDA style phone for storing various programs during the clinical years. Anyone have advice on this? The main downsides seem to be sheer bulk of carrying those things around and added cost. Are the advantages worth it?

It is good to have a PDA for rotations as you can download pharmacopeias that are easy to access and read electronically, i.e. epocrates, as well as other hand software. It is bulky carrying around both a cell phone and a pda. If you need to get a cell phone, a combined pda/cell phone is probably a good idea as you only need to remember and charge up one device, and probably costs less than purchasing both a cell phone and a pda.

go to the tech forum and search around, this has been discussed to the point where you'll probably be able to find exactly what type of PDA fits you best. I use a treo 650 and love it, extremely useful.
