How accurate were the Pearson practice tests in portraying your actual score? I got a 25-45 percentile in the chemistry section of the practice test 🙁 I haven't taken Organic Chem but my school recommends to take the PCAT before taking organic chem.

My score is going to be horrible if this is like the real PCAT 😱

Also, what book do you feel like helped you the most? I am taking the PCAT for the first time July 20th, going to be gone next week on vacation so I don't have much time left to study.

How long did you study for the PCAT and what score did you get? Did you take Organic before taking it? I just finished freshman year, took general chem and bio already.

1. The tests were very accurate. All my scores were within the pre-test ranges.
2. Your school advisers are giving bad advice. Do take organic before taking the PCAT. You will thank me later.

Look at this link:

If you scroll down to the suggested plan of study, they say to take the PCAT between freshman and sophomore year (when I take organic 1)

Well it looks like I need to study a lot more
I've learned a lot of advisers are not very good at giving advice. This is one of those situations. You'd be a lot better off taking it after your first semester of organic, or immediately following your second semester of organic.

You can always choose the No Score option if you feel you did poorly the first time...

sde - I think ignoring the O Chem portion on the PCAT is big risk. On the practice test, how did you do on the Ochem questions ? It is possible to study up on your own or delay your PCAT if you feel you are not ready.

WORD! I'm always amazed by how many people adhere the the advice of their advisor when their "advisors" are usually professors who are coerced into advising students and they have little knowledge of professional schools. (My research advisor was the chief advisor for undergraduate Chemistry majors and he was completely oblivious to pre-req requirements that had changed for pharmacy school at Campbell and Wingate. EPIC FAIL.)

Not only does my advisor say to take it before organic but so does the school of pharmacy.

If I do take organic chem before taking the PCAT, I'll be 1 year behind everybody. That means I take 3 years to get to pharmacy school, because deadline for application is in December. Say I do take Organic sophomore year...by the time I finish Organic 1 it will be past the deadline to apply this year, so I will have to wait till junior year to apply, and if I get in I'll be going to pharmacy school during my senior year.

i know its, kinda late now but you couldve taken organic chem I during the summer(summer C) and then take the september pcat. Or sign up for the late september pcat and at least you will have some organic I in your system by then

The practice exams were pretty accurate for me with the exception of the bio portion. I did really well on Bio in all 3 practice exams, but when I got to the PCAT, I felt like I was with the questions it asked.

All of my scores matched up pretty closely, Bio was way off though.

Well looks like I did pretty bad. Came back from vacation 3 days before the test...didn't study very much maybe 3-4 days altogether.

Verbal - 92
Bio - 54
Reading Comprehension - 77
Quantitative - 85
Chemistry - 48
Composite - 79

What was with the bio section...I thought it was awful detailed. I did very well in bio on the practice tests...always 80-99.

Chem was expected, I guessed on all the organic. Ran out of time for math or I would have did better, and thought I did better in reading comprehension.

Either way, I'm re-taking it in September or January if the scores count

I was the same way with the bio. I did good on all my practice tests and that was the subject I was most ready for and then scores a 40 -_- The questions were out of no where and some of them didn't even make sense.

I ended up with an 82 composite, but my Bio was a 51!! I was also getting 80-99 for Bio on all 3 practice exams online, and I used the Kaplan book to study.

I've taken Bio 1, Microbiology, and A&P 1 so far, and I felt like that section contained very little information from those courses.
