Could anyone tell me if a 500 on comlex and a lot of extra curriculars and slightly above average grades is enough for pediatric residency? I have heard mixed things.

Also can anyone speak to what the lesser competitive peds residencies are out there ? Really desperate for some guidance as I schedule away rotations

you will be fine as long as you apply to a sufficient amount of programs.

There are a lot. Any community program and a fair number of university programs will take you. Go on freida, as long as you hit the cutoff, go to their websites and see how many DOs there are in the class. Honestly 500 wont be bad, my school gave the same non-sense but plenty of people had success with <500 level 1. Show an improvement on level 2. You will be fine and will get university love.

I didn’t get any love from Illinois but I’m not from there nor did I do rotations. Classmates who only took comlex and did rotations in Illinois got interviews there. The ones I recall being Loyola, the Adventist ones, Peoria. Your best chance at interviews are auditions there.

Thank you everyone for responding to my questions. I had one more if that’s ok? Can anyone speak to how competitive advocate health is ? There seems so be two on frida one in park ridge and one in oak lawn with the one in oak lawn saying their residents have a greater than 600 avg comlex 1 ? The other saying 501-540 ... very confused. If anyone knows anything about these programs I would love a pm or response thank ya🙂
