I'm applying to peds programs and I wanted to see if anyone could share any information on some of the programs out there. Ideally, I want a place that most of the time I am doing fellow level cases but also incorporates a variety of cases and has exposure to a private practice environment. If I could stay away from workhorse programs that would be a bonus as well, I don't want a program that has me up at 3am doing a butt puss case every call, that's not what I am doing the fellowship to learn and if that makes me sound lazy so be it. Thanks for the info.

OU has a good but small pedes program. 1 fellow per year. Fellow does whatever case is most appropriate for them to do that day. 3 calls per month, most of the time on call you just finish the day's cases, go home on pager call, and have the next day off.

PM me for details, I either interviewed or know people from half the fellowships in the Country. Private pracitice peds is becoming very rare so dont expect it when you get out. Most fellowships with only put the fellows in those level cases without taxing them on call too much. There is usually fellow call which is home call for a week at a time if a transplant or something crazy comes in that you wouldnt want a resident even charting on. Although most peds fellowships you will be working 60-80 hrs a week so there is no free ride
