I am currently doing research before I start Dschool and was asked to look at how many pediatric dentists have a masters in public health..and more specifically what these dentists do, eg. private practice, academics, etc.

Would anyone know where I might find info that might help? I tried ADA but they have very limited info online. Are there big databases or lists available that you don't have to pay for? Thanks

The AAPD has those lists but probably won't give it to you for this purpose.

An alternative could be the following: Send a survey to all residency programs (go to AAPD.org/training), ask that the program directors disberse it (email it) to their residents, ask if they are getting a masters and ask them their plans post-grad (education, private practice, etc). Survey monkey is a good tool for that.

most of the pediatric dentists as well as other dentists that I have come in contact with who have an MPH or a MPA (Health Certificate) are in academics either at a school or a program director at a hospital.

I dont see too many MPH/DDS, maybe because it can be useless to buy off such a degree and it can be expensive in addition to DDS loans.

Suprisingly most school-based pediatric residencies have a masters component at no extra charge.
