Was wondering more about the Peds GI fellowship applications process. Will be applying this upcoming cycle and I have literally zero guidance since my program currently only has one working Peds GI physician and he has been out in practice for 20 years, so very far removed from the whole process. Also, I am the first person to match in GI for a while at my program.
How many fellowship programs should one apply to for a successful match?
How important is research/ how competitive is it?
When should I expect to have interviews? Like I know application opens July 1, but do they start offering interviews shortly after? Should I be prepared to take interview time off in July/August or is it more like September/October?
Any other things you wish you had known or are things to keep in mind when applying?
Any info would be helpful! I would like to stay more on the East Coast and Midwest. Thanks!
