Pediatric Journal

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There are many free journals. They just started coming to me when I started residency. I assume that either the ACGME or AAP pimped out my name and they just started coming. These are "throw away" journals. They don't have cutting edge research or anything, but they do have some good reviews and interesting cases. Clinical Pediatrics is one of them.

Hi..i'm newbie here. I would like to ask where to find free pediatric journal! thanks a lot!

It appears you are in the Philippines, please correct me if I'm wrong. There are several good sources of free pediatric journals on-line. First, you can search the topic of interest on pubmed (www.pubmed.gov). Many journals are now putting their articles on line free one year or so after the original publication.

Second, you can go to http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/ which is the official repository of all federally funded US science. The availability of recent articles here is a complex issue, but you can find lot of info at this site.

Finally, many journals have special policies for people residing in developing countries that cannot afford to buy the journals. I do not know the specific policies in this regard for the major pediatric journals, but you could check with them.

As an additional note, one can always write to the author of an article that you find the abstract to via pubmed and ask them for the original. Emailing the article may violate the copyright but if you are not widely distributing it, often it will be done. So as not to incriminate myself, I won't comment on how I handle such requests, which come to me often. 🙄

Wow,thanks..i wasn't expecting i could get answers so soon.
@oldbearprofessor: actually i'm in indonesia. i tried http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/ and it's really good, altough i'm having difficulties in dowloading the pdf journal, but maybe it's because of bad internet connection.
@edmadison: i tried clinical pediatrics at cpj.sagepub.com/ but it looks that it's not for free.
