I am interested in specializing in pediatric neurology. Does anyone have any thoughts, stories, advice, etc. about this specialty? Thanks!

Hey osteogal,

I'm interested in both psych and neuro. Although I don't know a whole lot about neuro, the one thing that, to me, is more attractive about it than psych is the fact that you do physical exams and you are not hanging up the stethescope for the rest of your career. Any thoughts?

Hey there DocToBe. I agree about liking the procedural benefits of neuro. I've also worked as a nurse in psychiatric units, mostly child psych. I thought the disorders were interesting to learn about but didn't like the practical aspects of dealing with mentally ill patients- violent behaviors, suicidal thoughts, HOMICIDAL!(ugh!!), etc. I think neuro will be more tame.
