Does anyone know of any Pedorthtist training programs out there? I remember seeing that a few Podiatry Schools in NY offered a 2-3 week certifying course butI lost the site and can't seem to find it or any others anymore.
Thanks for your help.

I think you do it after the whole school thing

That, or see if you can get someone to pay for it. I'm not sure if this is books inclusive but I saw the course cost $4k.

what exactly is pedorthotics?

pedorthics - learn how to make shoes and modify them for medical and even cosmetic reasons.

they must learn about foot deformities, post surgical foot wear and shoe modifications for things such as ankle fusions.

they also learn about the materials that shoes are made of - EVA, leather, synthetic stuffs...

the different parts of a shoe, and different types of shoes and closures

and the different rooms where the shoes are put together

Enslow is the local shoe place in NYC and their lab widens shoes like Jimmy Choos for Senator Hilary Clinton and others (is there HIPPAA in pedorthics)

Pedorthics is not limited to shoes, here is a quote from the BCP (Board for Certification of Pedorthics):

Pedorthics is the design, manufacture, modification and/or fit of footwear, including shoes, orthoses and foot devices, to prevent or alleviate foot problems caused by disease, congenital defect, overuse or injury.

The only thing I'm not entirely sure of is what exactly the scope of practice is in terms of orthoses.

??? UCB's, SMO's, DAFO's (peds), etc. I will call to find out and post my findings.
