Does anyone have salary figures for peds? Starting? Five plus years out? I can’t seem to find any definite numbers online.
Not too shabby. So 400k is doable? It depends where you’re looking to practice. The farther away from the coasts you get the higher the base pay - not necessarily “rural” because you need to be in a city/town that’s growing due to births or influx of new young families and they need to be affluent enough to know that a pediatric dentist is more appropriate than a general dentist for their child.
In general, what I have seen is that a pedo base is about 2-2.25x the base of a GP in that market. So if a general dentist’s base is typically 550/day, pedo would be around 1100. If a GP with 5 years of experience’s base is 800, a comparable pedo would be about 1600 etc. The bump usually comes in as a percentage of production though. Where a pedo may early 5% more than a GP is most markets. So if a GP gets 35% of collections, pedo would expect 40. If a GP gets 25% of production, pedo would expect 30 etc.
Yes. But going into this field for $ is probably the worst decision you can make. Out of all the specialties, you really have to have a passion for this one in particular if you want to succeed. The $ is out there for any specialty, general practice included. Not too shabby. So 400k is doable?
