I was just wondering if there was a peds fellowship for those of us in FP who want more peds training?

I was always a little confused as to why board certified pediatricians would need an additional 3 years to take care of adolescents.
It's 3 years because of the research requirements. The standardization of peds fellowships to all be 3 years, as I understand it, had more to do with the paucity of research/EBM in pediatrics than with the attainment of knowledge. Requiring fellows to complete a significant scholarly project is a cheap way to increase the research output in all fields. However, I think a fair number of people are recognizing that it's detrimental to recruitment in certain specialties like Adolescent and Behavioral/Developmental Peds. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the future fellowship length is revisited.
Gotcha.
To the OP: You might consider doing one of P4 programs around the country and see if you can tailor your last year towards Peds experiences.
does anyone have any advice on someone who wants to enhance his pediatrics knowledge?
A few residencies around the nation are part of the p4 initiative where they offer an extra year in residency to get extra training in an area of family med you want more experience with.
Google 'aafp p4 initiative' and read about it
