For those of you who have taken the peds shelf recently, were there a lot of questions regarding the different murmurs, CHDs, etc? Thanks for your help!

I had 4-5 questions on peds cardiology, most of which were straightforward if you knew the murmurs and the buzz words.

not much cardiology and the stuff that was asked was fairly straight forward. it's not worth it trying to learn all the nitty gritty for total anomalous pulmonary venous return (not even sure if thats right ) or hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Is it worth memorizing vaccinations and developental milestones? thanks

I felt like I picked up enough of that in my 3 weeks outpatient clinic. You could probably get a couple of extra points by formally memorizing it, but you'll get within two answer choices if you use simple common sense.

Has anyone tried doing the pediatric questions in the kaplan qbook? And if so, how good are they in correlation with the actual shelf exam?

I had MAYBE 1 or 2 cards questions on my peds shelf, and they were fairly straightforward things if i remember, no zebras.

Yes it is worth remembering the devo milestones, but it would be tough to memorize them, especially since there are only going to be a few questions on the topic. Know things like when kids sit up without support, when they crawl, walk, etc., and when they start making sounds and words.

I have the kaplan qbook and i felt that those questions were good prep for the shelf. They were maybe slightly easier than the real thing, but packed with useful info.

Im running a little short on time (there is so much potential information). Anybody have an oppinion between Kaplan notes for Peds and Blueprints. Thanks
