Anyone else think this year's PEER has a lot more trivial pursuit, guess which study I'm thinking about, type questions than last years?

I really liked PEER VI and was planning on making VII the foundation of my in-service prep this year. I find myself cussing many of the questions and writing snide comments in the margins like "who gives a flying f&&k?!!".

I may go back to Rivers. Sigh.

Take care,
Jeff

I'd stick with Peer VI. The questions were much more difficult than the inservice questions, but most were still relevant.

I managed to chew through both in the past couple months and agree that 6 somehow has more cake whereas 7 more icing. Can you tell I'm hungry?

I'd like to. Of course, I tossed my copy of Peer VI. I do, however, have Peer V. I didn't do V last year, I'll see what it is like.

BTW, I just did a VII question about breast cancer in men..the answer was that we needed to do a biopsy despite a negative mamagram. How in the hell is that relevant to my practice as an emergency physician?

Gag. Not impressed.

Jeff

It's totally irrelevant. I'm not sure why they include such questions at all. When I encounter a question that's so completely out of our scope of practice, I ignore it and move on.

Nope, not me. I prefer to obses about its essential pointlessness, raising my blood pressure and ruining my day in the process. Yes, I realize there is a picture of me under Axis II in the DSM because of this. It's a curse. 🙂

Take care,
Jeff
