It has taken nearly a week of multiple email requests to get the following useless reply from the Penn post bacc program...I basically asked how many total linkage slots there are, and what are the minimum GPA requirements vs the typical GPA profile for the actual linkage "winners" and as you can see from the following reply, they don't want to give this info out to prospective participants (and it is not covered on their pretty website or in the pretty program brochure downloadable in PDF form):

Counseling on applying for linkage program opportunities is provided by the Director of the Pre-Health Program after students are accepted and matriculated into the program. Although I can help respond to inquiries about the mechanics of the application process to Penn's program, I cannot counsel you on linkage except for a few bits of information below. Because of the volume of inquiries we receive, the director is unable to accommodate counseling of prospective applicants to our program so that she can best serve those enrolled.

Admissions criteria and linkage decisions are solely at the discretion of the various linkage schools and not Penn. You would need to contact the specific school of interest do learn of their policies and admissions criteria as the minimum GPA requirement for admission may differ between institutions. It is my understanding that medical schools generally look for about a 3.5 overall GPA in a competitive applicant, but again, there may be variation among programs and you would need to have each school, such as Drexel, speak on behalf of their own policies. The number of slots offered for linkage is also at the discretion of the individual schools.

If I were considering Penn and interested in the linkage programs, I would find this reply totally inadequate, but your mileage may vary...

That sucks. I'm kind of curious about the numbers as well...

I'm going to call them Monday to learn some more about their post-bac program and hopefully finish applying. I'll ask whoever I talk to for some hard numbers and see if I can squeeze anything out of them😀

Please keep us posted on what you find out. I'm applying to Penn and this info is important. Thanks!
