Penn status change message

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Didn't get a deferral. Academic record above average, MCAT slightly below. Lots of unique experiences, strong PS. Complete early Sept. Not expecting much, though.
I was also complete early in September. It may just mean that they have not reviewed our applications yet?

ALL ADMISSIONS DECISIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AFTER MARCH 15.

So... no reject letters prior to March 15th? I think I might prefer the Pritzasdfljker slap in the face (which I have received)...

Still waiting for my UPenn "hold" - complete Sept.19

I got the deferred thing too. Way ambiguous and way annoying.

Well it's kinda hard to say without offending people that go there, but my opinion of the 15-20 penn med students i know is a group of very booksmart people who are sure that they are better than everyone else they meet and like to use their status as penn med students to prove that. also, one of the drs that i work under wasn't too impressed with their bedside manner and communication skills and he works with 20-30/year. It may just be the certain individuals that i've met/come in contact with that give me that wierd feeling, but that's about all we have to go on at a school before matriculating so what can you do?

*ahem* if you didn't want to offend anyone you should have stopped after that first sentence. after a sampling of 15-20 people who you probably know on a very casual basis that's quite a sweeping judgement to make on a whole school! not to step on your toes either (and that was entirely non-sarcastic 🙂) i go to penn as an undergrad and i'm *good* friends with many penn med students. the primary reason i want to go here for med school actually ISN'T because of rankings or wanting to "prove" something, but because my friends actually have time off (as 3rd and 4th years!) to pursue activities outside of med school (like salsa dancing or art or liberal arts classes in the undergraduate department at penn... which btw is free to med students!). and they are the most laid back, un-gunner-ish people i have ever met in my life. in fact, they are so much more chill than the premeds in my science courses. but yes, they are incredibly intelligent, but more importantly they aren't socially awkward either! i love penn and just wanted to add another perspective from someone a little closer to the school.
