I think I'm going back there on the 11th to (hopefully) find a place.

Also, do you know how the white coat ceremony works? My parents and grandparents would like to be there, but I don't know if 'outsiders' are invited, do you?•••••I don't think you need to worry about the white coat ceremony being closed to family! It seems to me that it's a real 'family pleaser' and that having family there is integral to the whole thing.

My dad's a doc and I know he's coming in. I love him but part of me doesn't want to worry about entertaining family the weekend after orientation begins. . .

Does anybody agree ?!?!

PS: It's Friday August 16th at 2pm !•[/QUOTE

With any luck my parents will stay where they belong...In LA

Fly we met at second look. Gratz man.

Ack, I cannot for the life of me find the status check website for Penn. I hate that you can't get to it from their admissions page! Anyway, can somebody please help me out?

Thanks, Inanna ...

I'll save inanna the trouble! 😀

!congrats to all of you matriculating in the fall!! I love the med school and really hope to be admitted for 2007. For housing, West Philly is ok cuz its close but otherwise downtown is the way to go. By the way, who are you penn undergrads who were accepted to med school (do I know you??-were you guys BBB majors? 🙂 looking forward to seeing you guys roaming locust and ?hamilton? walk next year. ps(Bio med library needs some renovations--but there is a sweet med student-only lounge downstairs--nice couches to sleep on..
best,
Biff

I just called the office of admissions at Penn today. I asked about the waitlist and was told by a secretary that the "class is closed" and that I "should get a letter within a few weeks." Anyone else hear this same story?

I don't see how that's possible given that people will be withdrawing as their accepted to other schools. . . as good as Penn is, people will withdraw between now and August for other schools. . . for example, when Duke gets smart and takes TommyGunn! 🙂

Sorry to hear that though. . . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

yeah, The Fly's right, there's no way the class can be closed! Maybe if you're tier 2 at this point they MIGHT send you a rejection letter (which at this point seems premature), but they'd be really stupid to close the waitlist this early. What if a bunch of people get in off other waitlists and drop Penn (as I intend to do if Duke lets me in!)? Then they'd be stuck with a smaller than desired class!

Do you know who told you this thing about the class being "closed?" I wonder why they'd say such a thing?

Time Quaker-
did they ask you for your name when they told you this information? And if so are you tier 1 or tier 2?

thanks--maybe the secretary was in a bad mood.

I did not tell them my name. I did not tell them anything about me. I am second tier but I did not mention that to the secretary. Yeah it does seem a bit odd. Oh well.

Bump. Wanted to see if anyone had any other reaction from the Penn folks other than what I got yesterday (go up a few posts)

time quaker -

are you waiting for other schools?? Where are you technically matriculating as of this moment ??

Here's to hoping things work out for 'ya! 🙂

I was an HSSC major at Penn and am staying for med school. I have a feeling I will be spending a lot more time on Hamilton than Locust, but it won't quite be the same or as exciting.
If you have any questions regarding Penn you can PM me. Good luck.

I spoke to someone last week who said that the waitlist will be moving a little bit shortly...
