Ok, so I've convinced my boyfriend to drive me to my uconn interview and perhaps come with me to my buffalo one...maybe we can make this whole thing somewhat fun. Anyways, Is it ok for him to come with me to the interview or should I just leave him at the hotel? In their letter buffalo was like "let us know if u plan on bringing anyone" So i dunno if it's ok or will it look bad.

thanks

When I interviewed at Buffalo, there were several people who brought guests/family members. It wasn't a problem at all and they were willing to accommodate the guests. 🙂

When I go to a job interview I always bring my wife, I used to bring my mom. (sarcasm)

Come on, grow up and be an adult.

Leave your mom/significant other, etc. at the hotel and let them check out the city. I know schools will probably babysit them, but think about how it looks. If you were interviewing for a Fortune 500 company would you bring you him to the interview.

I think that it is wise to bring someone if they are invited. 1) You get someone who's not so nervous who can notice things you didn't and discuss the experience with you later 2) if it's a spouse (as in my case), they're making the decision, too, and I think they should be fully informed.

i personally would not bring anyone but myself. i have a SO and if he comes on any interview he will be checking out the city for me while i interview. i think if you are married it is totally acceptable to bring your spouse (if they are invited) but if it is a bf/gf/parent, i gotta say NO.

my bf and i have lived together for 3 yrs. so believe me i feel like we are married 😛 but he is still my bf, not my husband (waiting till after i graduate from D-school), and i think it would just be weird to bring him. adcoms aren't going to know that we live together and are practically married (how would that come up in a conversation unless i awkwardly worked it in 😳 ), so i don't think it would be a comfortable situation for all involved.

plus, if you are like me you are spending a very limited amount of time in each city, so it would be nice to have someone check out a little bit of the city and give you some feedback, oh and have them pick up an apartment guide 😉

I tagged along on my girlfriend's vet school interviews and was very glad to be considered in the decision-making process. Plus, I played rock so she would have some support. The school won't care (it is by no means "unprofessional") so it's up to you and your boyfriend -- don't drag him along if he doesn't want to go. But if he comes he won't be alone.

If guests are welcome, I think it would be stated in your interview invitation email/letter. Ohio State has a campus tour for guests and other activities. As far as the actual interview, I don't think guests are allowed to that, but I think it is fine to bring a guest. At least you have someone there rooting for you. Good luck on your interview!

My friend and I are both applying to dental schools this cycle.. She got an interview invitation to Uconn.. ive applied there as well but no invite so far.
Anyway, She wants to drive there, but doesn't want to drive, hasn't driven in years.. so im driving..

Should i just stay in the car and feel like a chump? or tag along.. and maybe feel like a bigger chump for not having been invited yet.. Not much to check out in Farmington, Connecticut..

I can always just bring a book and go find a park or something i guess..

Are you in school? Take homework with you. It's lame, but productive. Alternatively, you could go to that park and try to see how many 12 year olds you can take out before they bring you down.
