Is there any ppl who attended a college where 300 level classes have no curve in grading scheme?

I went to Stony Brook. Ok reputation but infamous for 300 level science classes that have no curve in grading. In one of my classes, our test avg was like 41 which was in D range.

It's kinda unfair to see one of my friends with 3.6 gpa from a school with curve and dat scores of 19 getting accepted to 3 dental schools. Well I guess he must be smart in his own right.

I heard that science classes in Rutgers and BU have really tough grading scheme.

i dont know what you want to hear from this thread but if you are worried about other people getting accepted you are wasting your time...you should just make yourself better...i used to just try and compete with all the predents at my school and worry about what they were doing and how well they were doing but it is just a waste...

How about classes where half the class has 90% or above, that's stupid.

Curves are fair, plenty of people still fail on a proper bell curve.

Dumbed down classes are not.

The average ochem class with 200 people in it is going to have the same abilities in students, generally, regardless of the institution. The curve allows for equality.

Some of my classes have the highest grade of a 60%.....are they D material. Nope, they get an A and deserve it...

Apparently all of these posters do have curves. A little defenseive folks, eh

I went to a school where the PROFESSOR chose how to grade. It was not University policy.

Most of my teachers normalized everything so about 75% of the people in the class were at the 70% range. Those above got good grades...those below went to podiatry school 🙂

No curves in any class, any level, any time at Colgate. Ever.
No extra credit, no bonus points, no padded grades.

Lucky for me I did my science classes at local state school where every class is curved and pretty much every test I took was multiple choice!! MULTIPLE CHOICE!! Hadn't had one of those since 8th grade! I couldn't believe that kids would complain when they had to write short answers on some tests.

Curve makes all the difference. That said I can't be pro curve or anti curve b/c I have both factored into my gpas.
