Ok guys i can eliminate choices B and D, however how in the world is it possible to distinguish A and C

BTW A is correct.

IMO, you eliminate C because if C was the answer, there would be no tapering to the top (creating the pointiness in front and end views) as implied by the front and end views.

H.

C is a non-three-dimensional view. In other words, it would look like C if the configuration had just been painted on the top of the box. However, since it is a three-dimensional figure that is projecting off of the surface, it will look like A.

PAT is nothing but practice guys. after doing a million of them, the answer will just jump right at you without even thinking about it much.

DrTaco...look at the 4 lines that are portruding off from the vertex of the pyramid. The two middle lines show either two things: the triangulated centered triangle's edges are protruding either outwards or inward. Hence, C can automatically be eliminated and you are left with A

Oh so whenever you have a Line it means that the figure Breaks the viewing plane. You can not just have a figure made up of parallel "pieces". Follow what i'm saying Like if the pyramid was made up of 3 panels on the front.

No one has time to do a million problems. I know you were just over exaggerating, but it's not too helpful in this case. We're just having a healthy conversation about a PAT problem. Wouldn't you agree that this discussion is helpful...at least to someone like the OP? I do agree that practice will help, but I always recommend methodical, goal-oriented practice. I consider this discussion thread part of that practice.
