yea you should, however it wouldn't be complex complex. you should be able to recognize and execute the calculation though and do it quickly.
 
Can anyone give the easiest and shortest way how to solve these perfect square problems.

Yes. Very simple ones, nothing involving the quadratic equation. It's usually an equation that you can easily factor.

I'm super rusty with math, but I'm not sure if that polynomial is solvable without a calculator? I think the roots would be non whole numbers which I think might be outside the scope of the dat?

That said, my main man LBS did way better than me in QR so wait for him for now 🙂
