Hello. I was wondering if any of you know of or have any materials that you might be willing to share regarding conducting an eye exam in Spanish.

Practical Spanish in Eyecare by Brian Chou seems a bit pricey at $200+ on Amazon and Spanish for Optometrists by Command Spanish, Inc. has poor reviews.

If anybody can share a comprehensive Spanish language eye exam 'script' it would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to hearing from you. :xf:

Thanks

If you join SVOSH and get to go on a trip to a Spanish speaking country, you'll pick it up quickly. I know at our school, we have a club that sells guides on how to conduct a Spanish exam. You should ask someone at your school if you'll be able to get one when you start!

Ibalz - you are coming to Pacific right?

There is a Spanish elective you can take at PUCO your third year. Also - I think they have the book they use in that class on reserve in the library here. They might use the Spanish Terminology for the Eye Care Team in that class. Not 100% positive but I thought it was a book with a green cover.

Plus we learned some (VERY) basic stuff in patient care during first semester. You may or may not get a chance to use it in screenings during your first year depending on which screenings you participate in. But with all the spanish speaking patients we have here you will get a chance to practice if you want!
