Hello.

I'm an international dentist, and interested in periodontology postgraduation programs in the U.S..

However, I barely have information regarding the programs.

So I'd like to ask some questions.

1. Which programs have a great curriculum?

I've heard that HSDM, UW, UCSF, Uconn, San Antonio, Huston offer great courses.

2. Which programs are relatively in favor of a foreign dentist?

I was told that some programs hardly select foreign destist, while others, such as BU, Tuft, are almost filled with international dentist.

3. How competitive perio programs are in U.S.?

I'm looking forward to your help, please.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,
I cannot answer all of your questions, as I was and still am least interested in periodontics.
I can tell you with a lot of certainty that University of Louisville looks very favorably upon foreign graduates - only for specialty in periodontics.
From what i have heard, all three residents last year were international grads. It seems like the program curriculum is very hard, but you get good clinical and classroom experience. You also get a masters degree, and for that you have to do mandatory research.
Unless it has changed, the program director is Dr. Henry Greenwell and you can call him for more information.
The downside is that you dont get paid during that residency and may have to pay minimal tuition.

Hope this helps.
