Hey guys, I'm currently writing my personal statements and one of the prompts for UC Berkeley is listed below. I plan on writing about how my approach and dedication to weight lifting and changing my body really exemplifies my grit/determination to succeed. However, do you think they are looking for a more specific experience/anecdote? Please advise!

Prompt:
Please watch this 6-minute TED talk,"The Key to Success: Grit." After viewing the TED talk, please share a time when you displayed grit and explain how your ability to be resilient will ensure your success in completing a rigorous four year optometric program.

I am also in the process of writing this! Writer's block is the worst 🙁 Anyways, I spoke with current Berkeley students about this essay and one wrote about tennis and her dedication to challenging her body too. BUT she also wrote about how she competed in tennis tournaments and her goals for being the best athlete she could be, and how that would translate into the best optometrist she could be. SOOO I think yes, you should probably choose a specific instance or multiple instances leading up to your main goal.

Although, I really think that at the end of the day, as long as you can turn your ideas into how it will make you a great optometrist, you should be fine!

Writer's block is indeed the worst. I did continue with the gym one and I finished a draft this week. If anyone would like to do a peer review that would be awesome!
