So I am writing ym personal statement. I am really questioning whether I should write why I chose dentistry over other health science branches, since I'm emphasizing in my P.S. that I really wanted to be in something health realted. My main reason is lifestyle that allows for other acitivies, so is that something apporpriate to write in P.S.?

Also, I have all my recommendations from science professor and I've asked a non-science prof. to write me a letter, and he says he'd love to, but he's very busy until June 1st, then I can meet him and he would prob write me one by middle of June. Would this delay my application at all?

anybody got any answers for me?
I'd appreciate it.

it's my understanding that letters of rec do not delay the processing of your application. the important things you need first are your transcripts/DAT scores b/c they need to get verified. can this be confirmed by anyone else?

You can write why you chose dentistry, but there is no reason to discuss why didn't choose any other field. Emphasizing that you wanted essentially anything in the health fields is not a good idea. That's like wanting to go on a date with that someone special and feeling compelled to say why the other 10 on your list were not as attractive even though you gave them serious consideration.

lol @ doc toothache's comment

i think talking about the "lifestyle" is pretty common upon pre-dents? seems like almost everyone going into dentistry is for the "lifestyle."

i am also not exactly sure about the lors. if schools do not have any lors, then they probably wont look at your application. if they are missing 1 non-science letter, they may or may not look at your application. you will need to research which schools require non-science letter. you can contact the schools and/or AADSAS and ask them about sending the lor late.
