If I want to ask my recommenders for a letter soon, is it OK if my personal statement isn't done?
I've got a list of questions that I answered for my pre-health committee, covering the basics (why medicine, struggles/obstacles, etc), and my resume for all of my EC's.

I don't want to give them a personal statement I BS'd. Would it be ok if I gave it to them later?

And also, what else should I give them when I ask for a LOR?

I never gave any of my letter writers the PS. Short interviews, list of things they need to know, the end.

There's really no need for them to have the personal statement. I doubt any letter writer pulls from that, they know the ADCOM's are going to read your PS.

Ask and see. Some of mine insisted on seeing the PS as well as a CV and transcript. Another wanted to meet over a cup of coffee, and later confessed he was evaluating how I ordered brunch and also tested my general knowledge of science/reading/etc. I thought we were just having good conversation and somehow Richard Dawkins came up. He was impressed.

Oooh alright, thanks guys!
I'll just spend more time on the questions then, and hand those in.
