- Podiatry Student
Hopefully this thread won't be reason for individuals on SDN to view me as pompous, but with the application cycle opening up this Wednesday I just wanted to alleviate some stress potential applicants may have. The reality of it is that your personal statement will never break or make your application for podiatry admissions. If this was MD/DO I would never say that, but it's not. I have heard numerous stories of individuals getting into podiatry school with personal statements that don't even total over 10 sentences. I think it may have slight baring only IF cGPA/sGPA are significantly lower than the average.
With that being said, I don't mean take it very lightly and put down nonsense, but there is simply no need to stress over the personal statement. Just answer the "why podiatry" question honestly and show genuine interest in the profession.
I would like some enlightenment from current students if they have differing views about the personal statement. Was anyone ever asked about their statement during interviews?
Anyway good luck to everyone applying this upcoming cycle 🙂! 😍
