Why have you selected the field of medicine?

What motivates you to learn more about medicine?

What do you want medical schools to know about you that hasn't been disclosed in another section of the application?

are there any other good sites or resources that could give other tips on what to write about?

You'll get a lot more help with this in the Pre-Allo forum.

Explain why you want to be a doctor (including what makes you think you will be a good one/that you are ready for this) and or explain any weaknesses in your application. Try to write about something that only you will have to write about, something that is unique and special about you as an applicant. Make yourself stand out from the crowd, don't write an essay that any other pre-med could have written. This will take some serious thinking, I personally thought about my essay for well over a year before I came up with something really good to discuss and dug pretty deep to write it, I actually teared up at my computer while writing it. Try to avoid personaly/family illness unless this is really the ture root of your interest in medicine and nothing else will properly explain your motivation, or if your situation is really unique our outstanding. If there are any weaknesses in you app own up to them and explain them, I discussed why my GPA was so low freshman year and about a head injury during junior year that forced me to drop a few of my courses. Finally, don't write about what specialty you want to do unless they ask about it specifically in a secondary question. Very few people know even in their first year of medicine what specialty they will end up in. They just want you to have a genuine passion for medicine. Good :luck:

Just write about how you so can't wait to get to med school that you already feel the need to post things in med student forums that don't belong there.🙄
