Some perspective for anyone feeling overwhelmed or down in the dumps...

I am finally beginning to turn my academic career around. I have B's and C's in my pre-reqs, around 5-6 W's, and two F's (one in a science class), and overall a pretty mediocre academic record at best. Now granted, there were some personal problems that I had to learn to deal with, but I still have to maintain culpability for my academic record. Thankfully, DO schools appreciate effort and life experience (NREMT-B and soon to be NREMT-P, as well as world travel). So I realize that fixing my mistakes and doing well, plus maybe a post-bac and decent MCAT, I will probably have a good chance of acceptance.

That being said, do NOT just quit because things get tough or the future looks bleak. There are plenty of people who made mistakes in the beginning and at some point got tired of where they were heading and got it going in the right direction. Good luck to everyone!

👍 Good post!!

I totally agree. 40 hours a week work, 17 QCH a quarter during undergrad, and uncontrolled diabetes led to my sweet 2.6 GPA. Fast forward a year, 3.4 in my masters program with a 28 MCAT, and was just accepted to KCOM!! If you give up, you are selling yourself short.

Sorry to bump this up;

That's really good to hear, thanks for posting this. I'm currently an EMT student, going through my first set of barriers to get into a university. I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed and the "am I sure I want to do this?!" questions are coming up. I know I do, but I guess questioning ones self when you make a choice like this is normal.

Anyway, thank you again. 👍
