I was given IM as my final rotation for third year. I wanted to see how much this actually helps if one is to take step 2 early (to presumably do well). I was hoping for IM first and now that I have it last, the only positive I can think of is having step 2 right after IM rotations

Any thoughts?

I took step 2 CK 9 months after IM and 7 months after finishing surgery. Got 270+. I think it doesn't really matter what order you do rotations as long as you take dedicated study time to study for step 2 CK (I took about 3-4 weeks). You'll have time to refresh everything.

If you're pressured for time and really need to have the IM knowledge recently, you could probably schedule step 2 CK to 2 weeks after finishing up IM and then just use those 2 weeks to go through questions and review ob/gyn, psych, peds, and surgery.

Not really that I'm pressured or at that point yet, it's just that I was given IM last in my rotation schedule so I don't really have a say in changing it if I even wanted. Was trying to see if having it last actually is a positive since things would be fresh/easier to recall and study for. Trying to think glass half full with getting IM last :/

I appreciate the response!
