Could someone please help me with a petition to the dean? I would like to withdraw a class and not receive a WP and am hoping to get at least a partial refund for the class. I was told that I need to write a petition for this, but I have no idea what to do or say. I'm a freshman and have not been in the situation, so if someone knows anything about this, could they please help me out?

Thanks.

I think it varies school by school. Ask your advisor and/or registrar.

Unfortunately I have to write a petition since it's past a certain cut-off date. Can anyone help me with this?

Think for yourself, that's the best advice i can give you.

Ok, why do you think that you merit these things? Do your reasons make sense to others or do they boil down basically to "I made some bad choices and don't want to pay for them."

Even if your reason is essentially that, then use your freshman status, say you made a mistake, will learn from it, and want to exit the class without damaging your transcript.

are you just worried about the W? I had one and was accepted and not a single interviewer asked me about it once. Just have an answer if for some strange reason you are asked.

It also depends on the circumstances of the withdrawl, what events were going on in your life, and whether the dean sees it fit given all that has happened. Even if he says no, a W is not the end of the world. Youll be fine.

Yes you must explain your circumstances and somehow justify why you should be given those considerations (i.e. WP not showing up on your transcript + a refund.) Your reasons need to be sensible, convincing, and worthy of such an appeal.

Prazmatic, what is going on in your avatar. Everytime I see it I'm reminded of that family guy where Peter organizes the Tony Danza float and there's the one scene where he's giving Jonathan a sponge bath

Its actually a pic from this anime 'Midori no Hibi'. The main character is this tough guy, who wakes up one day and realizes that his right hand magically turned into a girl from his high school, who always had a crush on him but was never noticed. 13 episodes of hilarity ensue.

It is actually a pretty cool show. Whats your avatar? It seems somewhat familiar, but I cant quite put my finger on it...
