Pg 356 FA2016 says NSAIDs decrease PGE2 --> decrease gastric mucosa protection

We know misoprostol (PGE1 analog) is used to counteract NSAID mucosal impairment. Is it PGE1 or PGE2 that maintains healthy mucosa?

cox1 for healthy mucosa and cox2 for inflammation

PGE1 for decrease vascular tone and keeping PDA open
PGE2 for increasing uterine tone, abortificant

Yes, PGE2 protects gastric mucosa.
PGE2 has 4 receptors (EP1, EP2, EP3 and EP4). Misoprostol, which is a PGE1 analogue, is an EP3 agonist (EP3 inhibits gastric acid secretion and increases gastric mucus production).
