I was reading today in my EMRA Medical Student Emergency Medicine Survival Guide the section on ERAS and applications as well as the match and a question came up. I believe it said that as a 4th year med student you can apply to PGY-2 programs (Cook County, etc) and the ERAS will have you fill out a supplemental form for the transitional year. It went on to say that if you were to get into that PGY-2 spot the ERAS would then go on to place you in your choice of transitional years. Is this true or have I spun this into ******ation?! By the way I am a 3rd year and I am just trying to read up on stuff so the application process won't sneak up on me

thanks

Yes it's true and the same for several other programs that start in PGY-2 (rads, Gas). You have to apply to a transitional or prelim year at the same time and end up doing twice as many interviews. I don't think many of us were up for that.
