How much does strength of PGY1 affect PGY2 chances? I am at a small, community hospital with ~260 beds. I am primarily interested in critical care, but we only have a general ICU rotation, and residents/pharmacists do not respond to codes. We also do not have the ability to do a rotation at our larger, sister hospital. Any advice would be helpful!

Play to your strengths. Its quality not quantity.

Revise a protocol in ICU, make impactful interventions, improve a process, show some kind of cost reduction, do a small research/project for ICU (ex. turnover time of order of ABX to first administration), write a small case report that gets published, etc.

There is so much potential in all areas of pharmacy. Pick something and follow through!

Best of luck!
