So i had a question...did anyone get accepted into a do school and also applied to pharmacy there or vice versa. Some schools such as LECOM have both a pharmacy program as well as DO. Do you think it would really hurt me or decrease my chances if i apply to both. I have a long list of personal reasons for doing this. I was hoping the commitees would be different for both programs.

The admissions people will usually be the same for both programs at a single school, but given the sheer volume of applications they receive for each, they probably won't notice a duplicate (Unless maybe you have a name that really stands out for some reason.) Regardless, even if they did notice, I don't think they would hold it against you for applying to both. If it happened to come up at an interview, just say you're passionate about both fields and wanted to make sure you got into a program.

But in my interview, shouldnt i state that i feel stronger about the field that i am takling about in my interview?

I would apply to the one program you would most like to do. Then, if you are not accepted, the following year apply to both.

Only one way to find out. 😉

I think having a back-up program is a good idea, but if you're really worried about it, then just apply to different pharmacy programs.

It sounds like you have your reasons for doing this, but if you can hold out a year for pharmacy, you could apply to more DO/MD programs and increase your chances of becoming a physician, if that's what you would really prefer. Everyone has a different situation, so this is all up to you.

although I'm not sure about Lecom but I know Western will not like it AT ALL if you apply for more than one program, or even if you have applied for one in the past and now you're applying for a different one.

How do you know this?
